Day 5 - Doing Fine

I think the weekends are the biggest challenge. There isn't the same structure as during the week with working... too many things to distract me and try to take me off course. Went over to a friend's house last night to hang out and watch True Blood. She loves to bake, so she always has things like cookies, scones, cake, etc around. It's hard to say no sometimes. I do appreciate that she's not pushy about it, once I say "no thanks", she doesn't bother me about it.

It's hard to explain sometimes why calorie-dense almond flour is OK, but "healthy" whole wheat flour is bad. Just a mind set, I guess. The fact that 60% of my calories come from fat is a little hard for some people to swallow. Hell, I think it's easy to swallow... everything tastes so damn good!

The scale is down some more to 157.8, which is the lowest I've seen it in a long while. I'd like to be under 140 for my wedding in May, but I do realize that is not that far off, and probably isn't likely.

I've been missing my workouts... the stupid stitches in my neck come out on Tuesday, so I definitely plan on going Tuesday night! Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will give me my 3 days, so I'll be happy with that.

Looking forward to this week and the successes it will bring.

Day 4 - Full Steam Ahead

Today is Saturday... Day 4 of my challenge. Things have been going well so far. I haven't eaten a single thing that's processed, and no grains at all. I have had a little dairy... cream in my decaf coffee, and some cheese.

A quick step on the scale this morning shows me at 159.2, so that's progress in the right direction. I think that my body really does well on a ketogenic diet like this. I don't get "induction flu" like a lot of people do when they cut their carbs out, so that's good. It's definitely hard to stick to a diet when you feel like shit.

I made chicken breasts last night that were "breaded" in almond flour. They were pretty good. I had one with some sauteed yellow squash. Great meal. Will probably make a salad for lunch today using another one.

I've drank a lot of water the past few days too... 3-4 liters easy. For some reason, I still feel parched.

Day 1 - Off to a great start

Took some basic measurements this morning to use to track my progress. Weight this morning was 161.4 pounds, and my waist measured 40.5 inches. Yuck.

Had a great breakfast, dinner is in the crock pot for later, and I have a nice lunch and snack planned. I plugged all the info into Fitday, and I should end up with 1217 calories, 54% fat, 24% protein, and 21% carbs. Total net carbs (minus fiber) should be 45.9g.

I've drank about a liter of water so far, with a goal of at least 3 liters.

I have not been to Crossfit yet this week. Yesterday I had a mole removed on my neck, and every time I turn my head or move too fast, I can feel the stitches pulling on it and it is uncomfortable. I think I should skip the workouts until it stops hurting. I don't want to tear my skin or my stitches.

So... I'm off to a great start, and I'm looking forward to keeping it up!

And so it begins... tomorrow

Since today is Fat Tuesday, and Lent starts tomorrow, I've decided to use the next 40 days as a chance to turn my life around. I'm not an overly religious person... it just happened to be good timing.

In the spirit of Fat Tuesday, I ate a bunch of junk that I probably didn't need to have. But, that stops tonight and the Paleo Plan begins. I printed off the menu for the week, I hit the grocery store on my way home from work tonight, and my cupboards are stocked up. I am ready.

I joined Crossfit almost 4 months ago, and have been pretty good about going at least 3x a week. I really like the workouts and the atmosphere. I have definitely gained some strength and muscle mass since starting, and look forward to getting even stronger.

Anyway... good night for now. Need a good nights sleep to be ready to start the day tomorrow. Will be throwing dinner in the crock pot before I leave for work!!
